January 2021

December was an extremely sad month (the Nutcracker ballet had to be cancelled) but also an extremely happy month as my son, Nathan James, was born on Dec. 23rd. Since then it has been very busy.
Barbara and I spent many hours, both before and after Nathan's birth, choosing and ordering recital costumes and finalizing the order of our 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM performances. Pictures of the costumes are displayed in the playroom and the order of the dances is posted on the office door.

We will continue enrolling new students through the end of February. These students will also have the opportunity to dance in our spring recital at TPAC. If your name is given as a reference when a new student enrolls, you will receive a $10 credit on your account.

The annual Ballet Midwest Company auditions were held on January 17th. Congratulations to our returning company dancers and a special welcome to our new company dancers – Lillyan Anderson, Alaina Barry, Briahna Bazil, Marcella Butcher, Brianna Butler, Keira Copeland, Jaxon Cowdin, Ellie Ericson, Abigail Harrison, Elizabeth Hildebrandt, Lillian Krohe, Julianne Marichal, Sara Osborn, Emily Patton, Isabelle Pryor, and Renae Sturgeon. The new dancers were welcomed with a doorstep drop-off of a rose and present by their new "big sister/brother" in the company.

Casting will be announced in early February for the spring ballet, "Cinderella." Full length productions of "Cinderella" will be performed the weekend of April 16th – 18th. Please plan to attend one of these delightful performances at TPAC! Information on the exact dates and times will be coming soon.

Ballet Midwest Junior Company auditions will be held Saturday, February 6th, for ballet dancers 11years of age and older, or in the 5th grade. The Junior Company gives dancers a chance to experience many of the opportunities and responsibilities of dancing with a company. It is an excellent introduction for dancers who would like to audition for Ballet Midwest in the future.

Friday afternoon homeschool lessons will start this Friday, January 29th, with Lexi Lemons Williams teaching two ballet and two liturgical classes. These classes are offered in ten weekly sessions for new and returning students four to twelve years of age.

We look forward to an exciting semester!
