February/March 2017

All the costume orders are in, including for our new beginning January classes. Recital dances are starting to take shape. It's important for dancers to attend class regularly so they won't get behind.

We want to take this opportunity to congratulate Miss Kathleen, one of our instructors, who had baby Rosalie Bernadette on Saturday at 11 a.m. Rosalie weighed 5lbs 11oz, and is 18in long! We are so excited to meet her!

On Saturday, February 4th, Ballet Midwest junior company auditions were held at the studio. New junior company dancers are Kate Anderson, Kennedy Beals, Rebecca Bearman, Brianna Butler, Maisie Cowdin, Lauren Frank, Sophia Geist, Peighton Jolly, Sophia Lopez, Marley McIntyre, Maggie Murphy, Elyse Patrick, BeBe Reilly, Lillian Stroud, Sierra Wilkerson, and Ava Wilson. The junior company will dance in "Swan Lake" to be performed at TPAC on April 22nd & 23rd.

Our Easter liturgical concert, "He Is Risen," will be held at TPAC, free of charge, on Saturday, April 15th at 7:00pm. All liturgical classes at Barbara's Conservatory of Dance will perform as well as Cleargold, our resident liturgical touring group. Come celebrate Easter with inspiring music and dance.

Ballet Midwest will perform the full-length ballet "Swan Lake" on Saturday, April 22nd at 8:00pm & Sunday, April 23rd at 3:00pm at TPAC. Tickets will be available soon from dancers, the studio office, and Ticketmaster ($20 adults, $16 senior citizens, and $12 students). We will also offer "My First Ballet – A Shortened Fun Take of Swan Lake" on Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00pm at TPAC. This childrens shortened version is designed for pre-school through early grade school children. Miss Gina, a teacher at Barbara's Conservatory, will narrate the performance. Children will receive a white swan/black swan wand, as well as a special photo opportunity. This will be a fun, interactive performance where children will be encouraged to clap and cheer. After the performance children will have the opportunity to meet and talk to the lead characters and have a cookie. Tickets will be available only at the dance studio or at TPAC the day of the performance ($10 for adults or children).

We have a special, custom birthday party package available at the dance studio, with or without a dance teacher at the party. This is a fun opportunity for students to share their love of dance with their friends! To get more information, email Lacee at This email address is being protected from spambots. Parents, please let us know if you have not received your final balance due note, that also includes the final rehearsal schedule for the recital, by March 30th. Payments must be made by May 15th for your child to receive their costume(s) in class.

We will be having two recitals again this year. This helps to keep the length of the performance shorter. The elementary classes will perform at 2:00pm and the intermediate & advanced classes will have their recital at 5:00pm. Both recitals are at TPAC and are free of charge for all your friends and relatives.

Lastly, summer class information will be included in your mailing. Please sign-up for classes as soon as possible. To assure a spot you must turn in your registration & deposit at the studio by June 1st. We will again hold a daytime and early evening DANCEcamp. Supplies need to be purchased before the recital. No enrollments will be accepted after June 1st. There will be a variety of classes offered the month of June as well as three, one-week Nutcracker Preparation Workshops in August. Thank you.
