April/May 2016

I hope many of you were able to attend one of Ballet Midwest's performances of "Sleeping Beauty" this past weekend. It was one of our best performances in BMI's 39 year history. Our first ever children's version of "Sleeping Beauty" at 2:00pm on Saturday went extremely well. It will probably become an annual event. This fun,
interactive performance was attended by 399. Thank you for supporting our resident civic ballet company, Ballet Midwest, Inc.

Butterbraids proved to be an excellent fundraiser for the studio. It will definitely help with recital expenses. I appreciate your help with the effort. Remember, the orders need to be picked-up at the studio this Saturday, April 23rd,between 9 and 11:00am.

I would like to congratulate our 2016 high school graduates: Tessa Duncan,Alexis Faught, Katy Lobmeyer, Micaela Magee, Lauren Scott, Lauren Skrzypek,Stone Snowden, & Mollie Wendlandt. We will miss all of them tremendously next year!

Summer classes are important to the continued progress of your child's training. We offer classes for the month of June and also a one-week workshop for young as well as advanced dancers in August. Please sign up for your classes as soon as possible. DANCEcamp enrollments must be received by Wednesday, June 1st, as supplies must be purchased.

As in the past, we offer a way to express your wishes for classes for the 2016/2017 season. An online form will be sent to you in June. Please reply to this as soon as possible. This information will be used to help Lacee and I to schedule classes. Levels are not required from you as your child's teacher will tell us the level to enroll each student. Enrollment is scheduled for Thursday, August 25th, from 3:00pm- 9:00pm. Dégagé will also be available to fit new dance shoes and dancewear at a 20% discount that evening.

Nutcracker auditions for dancers four years of age and older will be held Saturday, August 27th. The schedule will be posted at enrollment.

Finally Ballet Midwest needs your talent. This coming year we are celebrating Ballet Midwest's 40th Anniversary, Barbara's 50th year of teaching dance, and Barbara's retirement year. We are planning many of exciting events. If you would like to be a part of planning and executing these events, please send your name and email address to the studio so you can be included in the planning of this monumental season. This next year will be a very exciting year indeed.
